..............Worlds of lower dimensions.................?

Okay.......we know in space time every point is an event.....But in three or two dimensional coordinates system a point is just a position.....so in two dimensional world what are these two dimensions? Is it one dimension of space and one dimension of time or something else....? Then how can we define one dimensional world....?
