Is there any evidence that life has evolved?

I was watching an ant crawl in the grass the other day, and I started wondering if the "spark" of life that animates it, was essentially any different than the one that animates me. I then began to wonder if it were possibly only the FORMS that life inhabits which have evolved. What if it is life ITSELF that is the driving force behind what we call evolution? "Primodial soup" theories notwithstanding, what if life is multi dimensional, and "bleeds thru" into our physical universe wherever conditions will support it? Perhaps better said, what if life were PREVIOUS to animation, and this is why it cannot be reverse engineered? How would things look different from what we observe if this were the case?
